Ahead of July’s General Election, Labour has confirmed it will ban products made by force-feeding ducks or geese from entering the UK, after a similar policy was dropped by the Tories.
Steve Reed, the shadow environment secretary, told The Times: “Labour has a proud track record on animal welfare, from ending the testing of animals for cosmetic products and the cruelty of fur farming.
“The next Labour government will build on this record to end cruelty toward animals. We will ban the commercial import of foie gras, where ducks and geese are aggressively force fed.”
